Project One: Hero Shot

  1. I like how you have incorporated a new way for children to be organised through this vibrate creation. You have identified a market and portrayed it in your product especially through the shape, form and colour of an echidna. The connection between children and animals is a clever way to attract your market to buy this product. The addition of using rubber wood being environmentally friendly is a very thoughtful idea for such a product. A suggestion on improving it would next time for the form to be less bulky. But otherwise your hero shot sells.

  3. I really like this design and I think that it would be excellent for children. I could see many kids using this on their tables at home and having all their pencils stuck in their little echidna-like holder. I really like the playful form and bright colour you have used though it would be amazing if there was maybe a few colour incorporated in it or it cold come in different colours for different kids. It also would be really interesting if it could hold things such as rubbers and paperclips rather than just pencils.

  4. I rather like this idea. The bold, solid shape, is slightly mysterious and doesn't hint at what it really is. As soon as the pencils go in, you can tell that it is an echidna – your target markets probably all over that. Colour is good, and with a slight tone change, it wouldn’t be out of place in the dinosaur designs coral sea collection.
The only thing I think I would change would be the overall shape. Something more like a cartoon, with a basic form of an echidna – almost like a character.

  5. I've watched your progress with this assignment and i think you've succeeded in both your research and design. This pencil holder/sharpener is full of character and would be perfect for most desks that require storage and organisation pencils. My only criticism would be that because the sharpener is detachable, perhaps it could be easily lost or misplaced. Overall, it's a pleasurable tool, ideal for a large and competitive market.
